Rejection Letters I Received Over the Past Year (365/365)
Lucky365 is a lifelogging-based work composed of 365 job rejection letters I received in the UK over an eighteen-month period. Behind these 365 rejections were more than 2,000 job applications, over 20 interviews, countless online forms, cover letters, screening questions, email threads, waiting periods and repeated acts of self-presentation.
The images in this work were not generated by artificial intelligence. They were generated by real administrative labour: filling in applications, adjusting CVs, rewriting personal statements, tracking opportunities, responding to employers and waiting for automated decisions. In this sense, the work treats the job application process itself as an image-making system, where time, hope, exhaustion and rejection are transformed into visual evidence.
Each rejection email I received often arrives with polite, almost optimistic language, while collectively they reveal a harsher structure: the precarious condition of young workers, the anxiety of the NEET generation, the post-pandemic labour market and the growing impact of AI-driven recruitment systems. What appears as a personal archive is also a record of a wider social condition.
